Re: Glass tubing
2.16 Cut glass tubing Break and bend glass tubing 1. One way to cut glass tubing is to score the surface with one forward stroke of a three cornered file. Make the score mark at right angles to the centre line of the tube so that the tube will snap squarely across. To snap the tube, place it on the ...

Re: Help needed with a MacBook
I assume that you don't have a computer tech/Network Techs. at your school?
We have 2 and a teacher who is in charge of the IT area who is responsible for any computer issues that we have at school and sometimes are helpful even if you have an issue with a home computer.

Re: Spot of Gardening
Well today I wasn't out in the garden or the creek, today I was in the Derwent River collecting Northern Pacific Seastars for a class to dissect. Let me tell you the water was pretty cool and I am just starting to get feeling back into my limbs now.

Re: Collection of Hazardous waste in NSW
you should try and arrange with other schools in your area a combined pickup with one of the chemical disposal companies as it may work out cheaper if you have a few schools onboard sharing the costs involved

Re: Spot of Gardening
Well yesterday I was in the creek that runs down between the school buildings and the oval with a few students trying to improve the flow rate. Today I will be out planting potatos and garlic among others, hopefully the forecast rain holds off until after 12.30pm as I don't like the chances of stude...

Re: radioactive sources
This is from the Tasmanian Radiation Protection Regulations 2006 So I would check out the Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Ionizing Radiation in Secondary Schools (1986) that is refered to. 42. Exemptions for radiation sources used in schools (1) In this regulation – "school" me...

Re: making up Universal indicator
I just discovered an inconsistency in a batch of Universal Indicator I made up compared to the bottle of commercially available indicator. For Environmental Science (First Period) the class was doing some soil testing on different soils from around the school and we ran out of some of the indicator ...

Re: What Do You Tell People?
I am left to my own devices, and as long as I get the work done that is needed then I don't have a problem. No-one comes into the science prep. room unless they coming to tell me they need something for an experiment and even then they may not actually get to do that experiment, because they may hav...

It seems to that it is Autoclave Tape, particularly with EO Gas and Steam written on the tape. I checked the Livingstone Website and couldn't find the exact tape but this is what is written under a description for Item TA12X50 AUTOCLAVE INDICATOR TAPE 12MMX50M and it says " Specially formulated...

I reckon the ice option sounds good, as I am about to have to set about getting some worms for dissection. It is likely that they do that for me because if they need a soldering iron, superglue, heat gun, metal rulers that are straight etc they come to me to ask me to borrow them. It is nice to be able to use some of the machines, as I was not into woodwork when I was at school myself. I really want to k...
