Re: distilled water

Hi, I also have a question on distilled water.
Is there an expiry date on distilled water? I make it through a still and I am now thinking I should put date on the spray bottles I make up. Is this correct? Does it deteriorate over time like the chemical solutions?

Re: New Lab assistants course semester 1 2009

Hi Noona, I think it is the same course. You do need the have the new Working in Science Manual to attend. The site for ordering this is https://www/det.nsw.edu.au/proflearn/areas/sass/science.html for those who do not have it. I am planning to attend at Parramatta on 25-26 February as have just got...

Re: Chemistry RA's

Thanks Sassi for the form. It looks very simple to use and welcome back to work you obviously decided to stay and see what happens. I hope you have a better year than last year. At least with new teachers you can train them the way you want.

Re: making soap

Hi, We have made soap for a Year 10 enrichment day this year with some success but the recipe we used came from "The Laboratory" a science manual for schools. I don't think you can make it without sodium hydroxide but we used 100ml 4M NaOH a little less toxic plus 10 dessertspoons dripping...

Re: How to class chemicals

Thanks guys for all your help. I don't know where I would be without chemtalk. When I started at Wyndham a year ago I was very unsure about what I should be doing, especially with the storage and handling of chemicals. I have learnt a bit more over the year and can understand some of the language an...

storage of bromine water

Hi all, I was wondering whether Bromine water should be stored in the flammable cupboard or with the acids? I know it can't be near sodium hydroxide but at present it is in the flammable cupboard. I was told by previous head teacher that it is very toxic so should be in the cupboard. The new HOD is ...

I agree with Richard. I went on the Data Logger course last year and the data logger I had an old vernier one that did not have a USB port so I could not use it . It was a bit of a waste of time for me. He also has his own datalogger Easylog which he promotes and they are very user friendly. If you ...

Hi everyone, you all deserve medals for all the work you do! I thought I was busy but I have nothing to complain about.
