Re: Urgent need of some books

Sorry Sue, we use the Heinemann HSC, but don't have any spares.
I checked the bookroom in case we had some of the other titles, but no luck.

Hope someone can help you

Re: Welcome back 2015

Me too, Narelle. We loved watching it as a family, usually twice, just to make sure we 'got' all the references. Wonderful dialogue and humour. My adult kids all still love and watch reruns. They'd given them to me, and I saved them up till now. What a treat to watch it from go to whoa! Will definit...

Re: Welcome back 2015

Oh, wow, Noona, what a momentous trip for you! Best Wishes for those significant experiences. I did very little, it was WONDERFUL! Can't remember the last time I had such a relaxing break. In recovery mode from carpal tunnel the first few weeks (immersed in a West Wing marathon [great milestone TV s...

Re: Setting up yet another prep room

So sorry to hear about your situation, Sue, and wish you well in finding a solution. Some schools/managers can't seem to think outside the square, let alone appreciate the fantastic resources they have in their staff. Have you tried putting it in writing? Principal, SAM and WHS committee, perhaps? M...

Re: Less than 2 weeks til Conference

Have great conference, girls! Wish I could be there too, but not possible, for several reasons  Will be thinking of you all, and look forward to seeing Laura next week, and also reading the Chemtalk post conference feedback to hear all about it :coffee: As always, congrats and thanks to Noona, ...

Hi Kelli, Do a search for Ferroxyl Gel - I've just checked and there's a page of posts on it. At my last school we did a 'corrosion' prac, but the only info I could find here is the (very old) recipe below, and you might find something better on the thread above. I seem to remember it being green. H...

Re: Chemwatch, registers, etc

I set up our Register a few years ago, including doing the intitial stocktaking of every storage location, and put it all into Excell. Everyone has access to this document. A hard copy is kept in the Front Office, with mini SDS for each chemical, and each Faculty or Area (eg. Farm, maintenance, grou...

Re: RIP Robin Williams

Thanks for your support for my health journey. My thoughts go out to all those who are struggling to cope with whatever personal loads they carry. How many times have I not known how to respond, or jumped to my own conclusions, or exhibited 'foot in mouth' disease, often through ignorance. If Robin'...

Re: RIP Robin Williams

Bless you, Dawn - I do hope you are going along well now. I don't feel any shame, but that's a good example of how easily words can be misinterpreted. While it isn't an issue for me currently, depression can be part of the Parkinsons journey, and there are similarities between some of the symptoms. ...

Re: Slime

Here's the two recipes we use, one with psyllium, one using guar gum (from health food stores): Add small amount of food colouring to 200mL water in beaker Heat until bubbles start to form Add 2 heaped teaspoons of psyllium husks Stir continuously until it forms a sticky/gooey consistency (like snot...

Re: RIP Robin Williams

Robin has left an amazing body of work, much of which has changed the way we think... I agree, Merilyn, that if losing such a special soul helps us to understand depression and death a little better, it would be an awesome and far-reaching legacy. Watching the TV footage got me thinking along these ...

Am wondering who supplies the new white totes that came with the refurb? Has anyone ordered any more of them yet?

Cheers to all!

Smoke machines for vortex apparatus

Hi everyone,

Just a heads-up - smoke machines are in Aldi's catalogue for next week (Wed 23rd Oct) at $29.99

This may interest those of you who did 'Engaging Experiments' at St Marys last year, where Krystina showed us how to make a vortex apparatus out of a garbage bin and shower curtain.

Cheers!

Hi everyone, Haven't logged on here in a while, and just going through old posts to catch up. This may interest those from NSW DEC schools: Last month I contacted Chemwatch re organising some more T&D for our region. Anna's reply was that they don't run training for CG3 any more, as they are in ...
