Re: Voltaic cell solutions
we used copper sulfate, zinc sulfate, magnesium sulfate and ferric sulfate with their corresponding metal electrodes and a potassium nitrate salt brigde (could use sodium chloride) all solution were 0.1 M but the studenets where just comparing the voltage from each metal. so yeah no acid.

Re: HELP! Titrations
I Figured it out :? I mistakenly used a 25ml gradulated pippett instead of the 50ml one that I though I got out. So instead of adding 98ml I only added 48mls. Oh well at least I know there is nothing wrong with my Conc HCl or my calculations I just ned to pay more attention when I'm getting out my g...

The yr 11's are doing the Sodium Carbonate Hydrocloric acid titration so I though I would just test my solutions first but I think I have made a major Miscalcultion some where or my conc HCl is not 32% as the label states. Now I initially made up 1l...

Gas here is turned off after every use (provided it is remembered) and i go and check at the end of every day that the valve is in the off position and all the taps are facing the right way. why would you even take the risk of leaving it on with kids around!

Re: venting of cabinets/chemical storage in hot weather
Yes My cabinets got ventilated! And it makes a massive difference! There is a switch outside my chem store door which has a timer thing and an on off auto/manual switch for the venting (it is where the light switch use to be, and the light switch is now inside), I acidentally turned it off ( forgett...

Re: Glocves and Face Shields
I always thought disposable nitrile was the norm. I wear safety glasses and lab coat and prepare in the fume hood with window down like yourself I don't see an issue with this. I do have a pair of big red chemical resistant gloves that i got from bunnings but they are too big and create more of a sa...

Ammeter issues
HI, I'm having issues with these ammeters. When I test them in the 1A port the reading goes off the scale but when I use the 5A port nothing happens the needle doesn't move at all. I'm thinking there might be something wrong with the wiring. Initially I though the resistors where blown because some ...

Yeah They do thier own here too. As long as they have the exact measurements for the soulitons I have prepared they should be able to do the calculations for themselves.

Re: Stomach Disection
While I was at TAFE we dissected an Entire sheep. If the stomach is burst the smell is room clearing and it takes quite some time to return. I would also wonder about the facilities you have for disposal of something like this and the space you would need to do it. When we did it we had post mortem ...
