we used copper sulfate, zinc sulfate, magnesium sulfate and ferric sulfate with their corresponding metal electrodes and a potassium nitrate salt brigde (could use sodium chloride) all solution were 0.1 M but the studenets where just comparing the voltage from each metal. so yeah no acid.

Why does it have to be acidified? I set this up on monday with just the straight sufate solutions and a voltmeter and it worked fine. Or am I getting confused?

I Figured it out :? I mistakenly used a 25ml gradulated pippett instead of the 50ml one that I though I got out. So instead of adding 98ml I only added 48mls. Yeah They do thier own here too. As long as they have the exact measurements for the soulitons I have prepared they should be able to do the calculations for themselves.
