Firstly its a big no no.. to open the plates. ( unless you are culturing specific bacteria on certain media which we dont usually do at school). You dont know what your dealing with! :? Start storing all your flour, rice, pasta, seeds in the frig in BIG JARS! say you are getting stored product pest, beetles or weevils. You can also use filter paper over the top of the lamps if you need to defuse the light, I find it much more relaxing on the eyes.

Try,
-soak the dialysis tubing in some water so it can be easily opened
-tie one end off with cotton (sewing type)
- fill with sucrose solution
- then tie the top off with cotton.

Just one thing to make your flow chart a bit more accurate, the heading should be just 'Insects' as bugs are a type of insect in entomological classification.

Pest control should only be done out of school hours, due to people who have chemical sensitivity and lung problems. Vapours & dusts can be airborn on windy days.

I seal them with sticky tape and observe using a steroscope & hand lenses.
I learnt a lesson a few years ago with a boy whos trigger was mold and ended up having a Asthma attack in class!!
Highly likely there will be a mold there as well as S.marascens
