Hi
I have just been told that a new advice has come in that we can not use nitrate salts any longer. Is this correct?

Re: permanent hair slides
Thanks Sassi
The only thing I don't have is lactic acid. Do you know if that is something I could pick up locally from maybe a health food store? we have done our last ordering for the year from the chemical supplier.

UV lamps
Hi everyone I'm wondering how everyone uses their UV lamps? We just have a small portable model. Teachers are concerned about the safety of this - first of all because when kids use it, the teacher has no control over the direction it gets pointed, and secondly , to work efficiently, the room needs ...

Re: permanent hair slides
No I have not made many slides - and those I have made were many years ago. Is the recipie you have much better / easier than just using nail polish?

permanent hair slides
Hi everyone
Our slides of hair shafts from human and animals are starting to look a little worse for wear after 5 yrs. So I am wanting to make a new set. The last ones were made just using sticky tape, which is OK, but I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a better method??

Thanks Liz - I just picked the fax up now. It sounds good. Does it really work well with just using those basic items?

Re: Science Competitions
Hi Lorrae
We have decided to do some science competitions this year and I am wondering if I could have a copy of your glow worm torch. I tried to "goggle" but didn't come up with anything that looks right.
Fax number is 024271 7245

Thanks a heap!

Re: Test Tube Quality
We had trouble with our last lot of test tubes we got from Serata. They were OK on arrival but broke very easily either at the bottom or on the rim. When I rung to complain, I was told they had not had any other complaints so I was left feeling it was our problem.

Re: Safety glasses hygiene
Surely you don't have a pair of SG for every single student? Do they have to supply their own? Also presumably if milton is safe to use on babies, it must have low allergenic qualities? - especially if they are left to dry overnight or even through the holidays, there wouldn't be much residue left. ...

Hi everyone
Any ideas on the quickest and easiest way to resurrect nails which have been used in rusting experiments? Other than using sandpaper?

Re: Nasty tasting, anti-fingernail biting stuff
We just did the natural selection experiment, painting the yukky stop-nail biting stuff onto jelly beans. Didn't quite have the expected result...... as soon as one boy got a taste of the yukky one, all the boys wanted to taste them... so they ended up with the least number of the yukky ones left at...
