Re: Chemical Storage

Hi Everyone I've been asked to sort out the chemicals stored at art department. They don't really have alot of stuff that is not classified as non hazardous but there are many spray cans of fixative and spray adhesive. There are also small quantities of flammable liquids like some solvents. At prese...

Re: Thorium Salt

Hi Everyone. Does anyone out there use a Wilson's cloud chamber. It says to use it with Thorium Oxide which is a banned chemical. We've tried using it with our radioactive sources and ethanol. It isn't working very well. I've been putting in the source and ethanol then sucking out the air with the b...

Re: sodium thiosulphate - and HCL

I don't know which experiment you are talking about. I just made a rainbow in measuring cylinder by pouring saturated sodium carbonate slowly into a 100mL measuring cylinder that was filled with 0.1M HCl and universal indicator. Its to show density and diffusion.

Re: Stocktake program

Hi Rosalie
I am also just starting out on Scilist. I can't help with your question, sorry, but I'm wondering if anyone out there knows how to go about importing my equipment list into the scilist programme, I've followed their instructions but haven't had any luck.

Cleaning Stainless spatulas

Hi Everyone
I hope this doesn't make me sound dumb but alot of my stainless steel spatulas/spoons are rusty and horrible looking. Just wondering if there is something I can do to make them sparkle again?
Thanks

Re: Conc Sulphuric Acid

Last week I was getting something out of the corrosives cupboard and noticed the white powder is back coating the bottom of the cupboard. I picked up one of the smaller botttles of conc. sulfuric. As i was squating and my knees hurt I didn't initially think much of the pin prick sensation on my leg....

Re: Hydrogen Peroxide

So I did heat it gently in the microwave for only 30 seconds and it was 56 degrees when I got it out. There really wasn't much of a difference between the hot and cold. The cold one as expected kept producing foam longer. We did this a rate of reaction prac where the variable was temperature so we go...

Re: endoscope

Mine too Dime. I keep thinking how far helpful does a lab assistant have to be? Turns out you can get them pretty cheaply of ebay. Good enough for what we want. Roughly $30.00. He is going to just demonstrate on tubing how it works.

Does anyone else have one in their school. Do you know where I may be able to get a price for one? than...
