Re: Do you help with Science budget???????
I complete all the order forms and reimbursement forms for teachers that buy things with their own money. I decide what sub-dissections to be put onto the orders and then keep a running record of the amount of money we have left in our budget. However, the office does give the head teacher a printou...

Re: GOnDO meters
We use the "Combo" meter, measurers EC, pH, temp and ppt. These are very easy to use and to calabrate, but cost approximately $250 each.

'Hypo' Crystals
I'm sure someone can help me. I have been asked for 'hypo' crystals, it's in relation to a prac looking at cystals forming at high temperatures and low temperatures (under volcanic conditions). Does anyone know what 'hypo' crystals are?
Thank you.

Hi, I recently bought junket from Woolworths in Goulburn, I think it was approx $3.99 for a packet of 12 tablets. Each tablet makes 500mls of junket.

Re: riskassess
I have recently started using RiskAssess, the teachers email the risk assessment to me, so I have my email minimised and when ever a new email is sent the computer beeps. As I am not always in the prep room, sometimes I do miss the beep, but I will check my email occassionally. RiskAssess also allow...

Re: UPGRADE PREP ROOM
Liz,
I have searched and searched "lab refurbishment" I can find numerous posts under different headings but I can't find any attached photos. I have also looked at the Asset Management Directorate on the intranet but still can't find any photos. Any ideas?
Thanks
Vicki

UPGRADE PREP ROOM
I am wondering if someone from a NSW DEC school could post a couple of photos of a refurbished prep room. One out of 6 of our labs (40 year old) plus the adjoining prep room is going to be refurbished. The prep room is currently being used as the science staff room and some of teachers can't underst...

Re: Calcium carbonate
Should you be using calcium carbonate or calcium chloride, in the past I have made "hard" water - 0.75g MgSO4 and 0.38g CaCl2 to 1 litre of water.

The labs look great. I'm so jealous! My labs are approximately 38 years old and don't look like being refurbished.

Senior Science students have just done this prac. my wax coated slides have been made by dipping them (both sides) into melted parafin wax. Once they have been made for the first time they then can be used time and time again.

This seems to be the same 2 day course being conducted by the Curriculum K-12 Directorate that I got a flyer about which is being held at Bomaderry (Illawarra Region). Unfortunately, I didn't keep the flyer because I am unable to attend. Maybe someone at NSW DET now realises that Science training is...
