Re: 2007 Chemical Safety in Schools Update Course
Mother, I live on north side of Sydney and would be VERY happy for you to stay with me if you can make the trip to the conference. If you come by train, I can give you instruction how to get to my place.

MSDS update
Just going through our MSDS and updating ones dated before 2002. I noticed that a lot of them have not changed at all only the issue date is new. Do I still need to re print the new version, where only the date is changed? I am talking sheets and sheets of paper. Any suggestions?

Re: Phasmid Pets
My favorite topic. We have the little critters here. We received them from Qld, very easy to keep, but I can do better then that. We have heaps at the moment, so I could give you some to try. We have instructions what to do and how to breed them. If you are interested and could come to Collaroy and ...

Re: Spill Kits
Ivy, we have done the same here, made up our own, but I know, you can get them from chem. suppliers and they are more specific(eg ammonia spill etc). I have never used it, but I feel the home made one is enough.

Re: Filtration Apparatus
Dee, we had this problem on the forum just before last holidays. The prac you are talking about is messy and hard to filter, because the particles are very tiny. Our HD has a nifty prac for determining S in fertiliser using titration method. It is very successful with our students. If you like, give...

Re: pb+2 A Little help please
It would be most likely lead nitrate, because lead sulfate and chloride are insoluble.
We have a prac for yr 11 chemistry on investigating solubility and lead nitrate is one of the solutions.

Re: MOLARS
Just to clarify this, %solution is a different measure of concentration to M solutions.
10% salt solution is made up of 10g of salt into 100mL volumetric flask (or 100g into 1000mL flask), but 1M is 58.44g of salt into 1000mL flask, which is only 5.8%solution.
Hope this makes sense.'

Re: Ferrous Nitrate
We could not get it either, so we use ferrous sulfate. Iron(II) salts oxidise very rapidly to Iron (III), so must make fresh solutions before use.

Is your job going to be advertise or is it going directly to you?
I know a young lady who is doing LSL post and would be very interested. She only has 3weeks left.
