I think we're a bit off topic here - the real question is not whether we dispose of chemicals following one protocol or another but what are the new rules?

We're using the Risk Assess software from Philip Crisp as both Risk Assessment and order form - and it's working really well. We have one teacher, however, who still uses the "scrap of paper left on prep room desk" system and he's never gunna change!!!!! so I've given up trying to drag him...

Yep, Darelle, we get roll dispensers and rolls of paper from QStores (heaps cheaper than the interleaved sheets).

I make Cobalt paper by soaking filter paper strips in Cobalt Chloride (any conc.) and drying it in a dessicator. It's used for showing the moisture in exhaled breath.

I bought plastic crates on wheels from Howards Storage World; they have a long handle and are easy to wheel from place to place - no more lugging boxes of books! They are about $35 each and are great.

Yeah the GoLink are good, but mine can only log time so it's not much help in some physics experiments.

We buy water from the local people who supply the wate for water coolers and have no problems; the water's good for general use, zero conductivity and no chlorides. Best of all it's $10 or so for 20L and cheaper still when you recycle the containers.

I'm trialling the Vernier LabQuest and it's really, really good; easy to use, collected data is easy to manipulate and it can be used with or without a computer interface.(I just hope the heavies OK my request for extra budget so I can buy them for next year.)

Hear hear John. Just bcause it makes us feel good to send "stuff, it doesn't always follow the "stuff" is any good to the recipients. I had a problem here when we renovated 4 years ago - one teacher wanted to send the old Messel "big blue science books" to a school charity!!...

Would never autoclave or microwave plates. On the advice of a microbiologist, I put the plates in a plastic bag, add bleach, seal, agitate a bit and then bin them. No aerosols, no yukky mess!
