Re: removing residue off reagent bottles
I just run mine under the tap for a while, then wipe dry with paper towel, then dispose of the paper towel. I wear my goggles and an apron / gloves when I do this.

Re: flame test in spray bottles??
Thanks Merilyn and Sunray and Linotas.
I have some nichrome - will try, and I have the thin glass too. JAYCAR sell nichrome fairly cheaply too.
I'll put it on the list for the days 'i play science'

Re: flame test in spray bottles??
Although flame test isn't in our program any more for juniors, there is a component in the yr 12 chem program. Teacher is set on flame test loops - (for jnrs I have done all sorts of things) Have been looking at suppliers, but have found nichrome at 11.90 EACH! and they degrade so quickly. I have al...

Re: New safety directions with dissection gear
I just say ' its food grade, i bought it from a butcher, wash your hands when you finish" (they wear gloves). And I rinse and put everything thru the dishwasher. I WILL not hand wash scalpels - its an increase risk of injury!!!
We have enough to do without that extra step!

I'm still learning how to edit them.
You have to self teach everything these days.
Its amazing what I have taught myself, Chemwatch is not the easiest thing I am finding though.

So I can just print a blank label with the name on it?

Re: GHS Labeling
I just thought I would do one chemical today to get started on the GHS labelling. Logged into chemwatch and got 'sodium hydroxide', and the labels are not the GHS ones. They are the old system ones. The pictogram is the old one. So I checked copper sulfate, knowing that the pictogram should be the d...

Re: Was there an official memo about GHS ?
I am going into GHS prep over this year. I have added a column to my chemical stocktake document, beside the SDS date one, so when I do the new label I can tick it off so I know where I am up to. AND, if we get an audit, I can show that it is 'in progress' BUT I also think that the CSIS review shoul...
