Re: DET schools that were closed due to floods

Julie

I think there are provisions in our award to allow us 'special' leave in case of floods, snow etc. you would not have to use sick leave or your pay docked.

Re: Upgrading of 800 science laboratories (NSW public schools on

Hi Cindy

Great to hear that your new labs are finished. I must come and visit, I am sure that they will put my 36 year old labs to shame, I would love to be on the 'upgrading list'.

I'll phone.

My head teacher has given me information about a one day data logger course being held at Bankstown TAFE in December. This is being conducted by Phil Jones, has anyone been to a data logger course run by him? If so, how was it? Thanks Vicki P.S. I'm sorry if this gets posted more than once, I'm havi...

Re: A Bad Day

I walked into a prep room between 2 labs at 1.00pm, the first time that I had a need to go into this room today. I said to the teacher teaching in the lab next door, what is that dreadful smell? Guess what had happened! The fridge had been unplugged and turned off. In the freezer was 1/2 a sheeps he...

OBSERVATION OF RADIATION EMISSIONS

Does anyone use a wilson cloud chamber with their year 12 physics students to demonstate radiaton emissions. If so, have you purchased the chamber or do you make the chamber up yourself?

Thanks for any help.

Wondering if anyone out there has instructions to use the above piece of Physics equipment.

If you do I would appreciate if you could fax it to me - Vicki Rath, Science on Fax (02) 48221432.

Richard Had to smile when I saw this post, my son plays football in a Canberra competition. The first Saturday of the school holidays we had to travel to Canberra to a gala day. On our way home Matt (12 years old) yells "mum look at the alpacha in that car", low and behold across the road ...

Hi Bev

I have the name Alan Smith (02) 9561 8956 to get a password to access the manifest to chemwatch gold.

This was passed on by John Deeble, Senior Advisor Assets Service (NSW DET).

I hope this helps out.

I am not able to test my water prior to it going through the Vertex, as it is connected directly to the tap in my fume cupboard. I think I have worked out my problem, (contaminated plastic containers), although the distilled water has been stored in them prior to my days here. When filling the conta...

Hi We also had the electrical checks done over the holidays. I came back to a storeroom with equipment taken off shelves and electrical cords hanging from equipment and off course equipment left over the floor, so that was something else to do first day back. I guess I'm lucky, I didn't have any hor...

SLINKY STORAGE

I am wondering how you all store your long slinkys used for wave motion?

I currently store ours in a large draw, however they seem to get very tangled and it is such a headache trying to untangle them.

Thanks for any help on this subject.

One of the taps on our voltameter has jammed, and therefore I am unable to turn it.

Does anyone have any advise on how to get the tap working again. Currently I am soaking it in hot soapy water.

Thanks
