Detergent
I use Detcon 95 from Serrata.Have found this to be better than anything else. Can be used as a neutral cleaner for rinsing, leave crystal clear glass wear. However for oily residue I use Palmolive liquid from the supermarket, then rinse in a mild solution of Detcon 95.

Wires
Hi Estelle
I hang my wires with alligator clips from a wire coat hanger!!!.Although this is not the perfect solution and I really don't know what is,at least the students can clip the wires back on themselves in some kind of order.

Removing rust stains
I am really excited about this site and have printed off quite a few hints!!!
To get back to rust stains- I use a solution of Oxalic Acid for rusty test tubes and glass plates. It is very successful if left overnight. The solution can be reused over and over again saving on wastage.
