Re: Fake "poo" recipe?

Re: Plankton nets

Try pool leaf scoop nets which can be borrowed from anyone who has a pool, I have collected 2 from council clean up. Telescopic handles are good they can also be optained from painter and fit pool scoops. :wink2:

Re: what do you use to dissect on

We use normal plastic cutting boards, I wrap them in 2 sheets of newspaper, which the student then wraps the dissection in and places it in the garbage bin. The boards are usually quiet clean, then I run them through the dishwasher or hot soapy water if needed urgently for the next class.

Re: Glass spotting/precipitation plates.

Can I suggest acetate sheets/ the old overhead transparency sheets, A4 size or cut them in half, much cheaper. I also have some labelled in a grid/table format which tells students what to add. We also use black paper behind them like Lada suggested. Some precepitates can be washed or wiped off with...

Re: iodine solution

Hi Sassi I did something similar. I made my solution and left it on a painted bench surface and covered it with a bucket. When I came in next morning and lifted the bucket it had left a big ring between the bottle and bucket! 8O I still used it and it was fine. I still have the stain after endless w...

Re: risk assesments in NSW

This has become very confusing! I wish there was just one translation to CSIS!!!! Why when attending CSIS courses they stress that a Risk Assessment is produced for every prac? and attach a mini MSDS. What about the OHS Legislation and OH &S regulations? Employers must provide the assessment and...

Hi All I thought I would just let you know, I have a very successful group of "stickies" breeding thanks to Lada. \:D/ I find the eggs take several months to hatch, I leave them by a warm window in a petri dish and only spray them when I remember. I m now collecting eggs from my 2nd genera...

Re: Dead Goldfish

A few years ago I had a problem with someone adding acid waste to my yabbies.
I glued a small sign on to the glass saying;

'Cruelty to animals (which includes fish) is punishable by law'

Never had a problem again.

on that note.... I will sail away!

Re: 1st aid in the Science Lab

All staff at our school have a current Senior first aid cetificate. I think it is a great idea we are also offered further training such as Advanced first aid, Defib and epipen training. You are reminded at the start of the year and you are hounded to keep it up to date. Students are also offered tr...
