Re: Testing the "freshness" of acidified Potassium Dichromate

This is taken from Chemical Safety in schools Vol2. It explains why, in greater depth. Due to the fact that you are producing CHROMIC ACID, by aciditying Potassium Dichromate. Re: Test Tube Quality

I just can not believe your SAM or Senior would change an order, perhaps they are asked to by their Prinicpal to go for cheaper items. We are asked to order as much as we can from Q-stores. If we do place an order with another company. Our SAM Senior Admin Manger askes us why. I am so surprised that...

Re: Testing the "freshness" of acidified Potassium Dichromate

Potassium Dichromate acidified becomes Chromic Acid, which is banned in all DET schools. Best to put in the collection waste storage area to be picked up, at some time.

Sorry its a NO NO :-o

You could go to your OHS Committee. Or phone Dr Pam Veivers at PSA (if you are a member) But I feel sure they will help you any way. On 02 9290 1555. Pam will know what the legal bits are.

Do hope this helps
