Re: embedded specimens
Sorry Krysia, my copy went missing, along with a few other personal books, a few years back when I went on leave. Otherwise I would have been more than happy to send a copy to you. Hopefully there is still someone around from back then that has a copy.

Re: Laboratory decorations
But, if you have a number of teachers going in and out of the lab all day, especially non-science teachers you're likely to have more damage caused by the students. Why on earth would non-science teachers be using laboratories? :? We have a severe shortage of rooms at the moment so I have all sorts...

Re: Welcome back
I'm doing quite well. The pathology results from the surgery were great, there was no viable cancer cells. So the radiation and chemo did its job, which only happens 15% of the time. The trip away was tiring but it was a great to get away and not have to go to a hospital or visit a doctor for a whol...

Re: Welcome back
Last week was my first week back since November. I had surgery on 1 December after several months of treatment for cancer. Thankfully I recovered quickly from the surgery and was still able to go on my trip to the US on Christmas Eve. Overall I had a great month visiting San Francisco, Orlando (with...

Re: Do you move around?
I just find it weird that you can be moved around in NSW (and maybe other states). I don't know of anyone here in Tas, public or private sector, that has been dragged out of science to work elsewhere. I also find it absurd that they have people with no qualifications filling in for you. As it is a s...

Re: Chemwatch 'fun'
Yes, Ajax SDS's are not as easy. Even if your bottles had the product code there was no guarantee it was still current. In the end I found the easiest way was to download their catalogue and look up the product codes from there.

Like Merilyn said go straight to the Chemsupply website and download the SDS. Their website is very easy to use.

Re: Electric pressure cooker
Just checked and Westlab is even cheaper! Theirs are $839.50 (15L) and $975.50 (24L), but might want to check that they are All American doesn't specifically say they are but have the same specifications and appear to look like they are All American.

Re: Electric pressure cooker
I'd never had a problem of the lid sticking before and it was only one little section that was stuck. I have to admit I did panic a little, wondering how I was going to open it and worried I might damage it while doing it. Thankfully common sense prevailed and I dug out the manual and read how to so...

Re: Electric pressure cooker
Like Merilyn I bought the All American autoclave (essentially a pressure cooker) but bought the 24L which is listed at $1150 at Haines. I bought mine from Southern Biological as they were cheaper. Just looked and their prices are currently $945 and $1120. So pays to shop around. I haven't had any pr...

Re: GHS Labeling
We should NOT be relabeling original containers!!! Risk assess labels are for "aliquot containers" as per the GHS requirements. As of 1/1/2017 all manufacturers must send chemicals correctly labels or else they are acting illegally. If you receive anything after this date not labeled corr...

Re: Dishwasher Meile vs Omega(on special at Westlab $505)
I bought a Domestic Siemens dishwasher over 3 years ago and have had no problem with it. It is used nearly every day. I like that it has 3 baskets/draws, the bottom basket's spikes can all lie flat to enable the use of a test tube rack (bought from Westlab), all draws/baskets can be removed if extra...
