Hi All,
A better way is to put this into a fume cupboard in a stainless steel tray and allow it to evaporate on its own accord.
No further cost for disposal this way.
Cheers,

Re: velocity v=s/d what's the s stand for?
Hi All, You people are all on the right track. Yes the s does represent "spatium" governing the distance or displacement relative to time. As Velocity is a measurement of scalar vectors. What I am trying to say is that velocity is is the change in displacement of a body divided by the time...

Hi All, The Risk phrases on some chemicals do not reflect on the label system of the DET. Some chemicals have certain dagers accociated with them but these have very low frequncies of causing these conditions. We also have to take into consideration the physical aspects of the substance. By right th...

Hi All,
I prepare the solution by adding 0.2g of the dyestuff in 15mL of triethanolamine with the addition of 5mL of ethanol.
That will get you out of trouble.
Must be doing Metal determination.

Re: Testing the "freshness" of acidified Potassium Dichromate
Hi All, To re-iterate Ockers post. it is advisable to use it when there is the need for it. I wouldn't/Don't use it after at least 2 days. It is too hazardous to leave around as well. Green solution has a larger moisture content, this means it has been oxidised to its Cr3+ state rather then the stab...

Hi Labbie, I can answer this quite easily for you the ferricyanide has oxidesed to ferrouscyanide changing the Iron (II) to Iron (III) (GREEN), this was probably done as the salt solution was used. There is another ingredient which makes the Potassium Ferricyanate stable it doesnt come to mind but I...

International Year of Chemistry 2011
Hi All,
Next year (2011) is the International Year of Chemistry. Is your school doing anything Chemistry to celebrate the occasion. I am looking at staging a Chemistry theme for the School for that year. Possibly a Chemistry show for students and parents/caregivers.

Re: sodium bromide soln has gone yellow
Hi Rainbow Sky, and our wonderfull Chemtalk family.
Sodium Bromide is a bit like Hydrochloric Acid. It will turn yellow under prolonged storage under artificail light.
Natural light will speed up this process but the NaBr is still useable.
Cheers,
Robb.....
