Thanks I think Ive figured it out cos it cant just disappear air pockets are forming in the powder as I add the water, when I stir the buddles come up therefore the volume decreases. I just love logic MariaC

:-( Hi guys, the yr 11 bio IB class are working on enzymes and Im making up percentage solutions ie 6%, 6g made up to a hundred etc trouble is with some enzymes eg amylase, at higher concentrations the powder clumps at the bottom, I add the water to the required mark, eg 50ml and then use a stirring...

If you dont live in the Sydney area I found the delivery of distilled water cost twice the price of the water itself! Eventually found our local IGA store stocked it in 2L bottles and I just ring them and order a box or two whenever I needed it!

Hi if its a double sided fume cupboard, ie access from the prep room and the class room the keyed fume cupboard lock/ switch near the light switches etc in the classroom has to be turned on, does that answer your question? cheers MariaC

Hi guys, I emailed our IT no response so far but its up and running again today full speed ahead, dont know what the problem was but its gone and Im happy again, why does this have to happen half way through updating the MSDS for the chemstore!
