Re: Magnets

I have just bought more bar magnets, our ancient ones are almost useless. I can highly recommend MTA - https://www.teaching.com.au/product/SER1091007A Great price, too, but bear in mind that they are super strong! Last year I bought a few sets of the IEC bar magnets from Scientrific, also good. Each...

Re: Jury duty

Thanks for your input, everyone, I don't feel as stressed as I did, I have not been through the process before and thought being selected meant you would be committed to a 10 week trial. I'm not trying to get out of jury duty, just would prefer to wait until I have retired, with all the time in the ...

Jury duty

I have been called up to attend for jury duty next month. Like most of you, I am the only person at school who can prepare pracs for Science. I can't see how the school can do without pracs (ie without me!) for up to 10 weeks. And if they tried it would take me 10 weeks to get everything back in pla...

Absolutely. What will it take for this to be taken seriously? Who will take responsibility?

What browser are they using? IE, Chrome, Safari etc - worth them trying on a different platform. Don't want to lose RiskAssess!

Re: Trolleys

I have purchased Trolleys from Nisbets, a kitchen supplier, for less than $200 each. They look identical to ones supplied by all the science outlets. 3 tier black and silver. The wheels are large and sturdy. Worth a look if your budget is tight like ours. So did I - they were on sale a few months a...

Re: Incubator or oven

Anybody know of an affordable drying oven? From what I can see, starting price is about $2 000, ouch. It is to be used for drying out chemical samples, we would carry on using our incubator for agar plates, etc.

who would blindly follow a document that is so out of date I could not agree more - I managed to get it in writing (indirectly) from my HT that he prefers me to follow RiskAssess, especially when it comes to health risks. I also prefer my old-fashioned diary and prac book for orders and scheduling....

Re: Plastic trays

Two things - Firstly, the old grey trays are photographic trays, not cheap, but, yes very durable. Try your visual arts teacher to see if they have a photography catalogue. Secondly, the ABS trays aren't dishwasher proof. Found out the hard way :-( I must be lucky then, mine have gone through the d...

Even if a school is an account customer, we do require proof of ID of the contact person for each order. This is forwarded through to the Police Dept. Note that different states have different regulations regarding End User Declarations. Alice/Westlab - is there a link to all the products (chemical...

We went with Pasco, represented by Ciderhouse. We've bought a lot of equipment, mostly sets of 8, thanks to the funding from the P&C. The Bluetooth connectivity is life changing for the students, it has created so much enthusiasm. Apart from the pH probes which have been a bit problematic, we're...

I haven't tried it, but if you go to YouTube and search for "How to Get a Cork Out of an Empty Wine Bottle" it shows a method using a plastic bag. Let us know if it works!
