Re: Stocktake on Chemwatch FFX

I just did mine and it took about 5 minutes for 170 chemicals. This is how I did it: - Manifest folder - Click folder of chemicals - Show all the chemicals on one page and select them all with a tick - Click Report Generator - Tick Selected - Choose report type in new window (I used the one called M...

Re: Water purifier - deioniser etc

I bought one from Scientrifric for about $400. It's reverse osmosis and pretty slow but works well if you don't need to fill up water bottles quickly. It's under the sink and has a little tap to make the water flow. Had it for about 6 months and no issues. We don't use a lot of deionised water though.

Re: Disabled Access to labs

I have one lab that has an adjustable bench height with sink which is used for one student (non-wheelchair reasons). Apparently in the next building stage we are getting a chem lab with an adjustable fume cupboard????

Re: Bucket chemistry

I was wondering why I bought so much flour this term!!! I did send an email to the faculty about altering certain pracs to suit the budget and what we have in stock and my HT told me some teachers didn't like that... I found the DNA extraction prac for Year 10 annoying to follow and it took so long ...

Re: Dehydration of sugar using sulfuric acid

Last year, I wanted to use up some old stock and that didn't work with the sugar. Then we filled a 150ml beaker about 3/4 of the way up with sugar and poured about 50ml of new conc acid to it. It took a little while to start working and then it shot up. I still have it on show since I don't know wha...

Re: Which plant is best to use?

Our yr 11 Bio class went out to our garden and found some weeds to cover with foil/black garbage bag and they said it worked well. :)

Re: Any benefits to making a Manifest in Chemwatch

Chemwatch is very useful. However, since the glitch a few weeks ago, some of my chemicals and quantities were changed/added out of nowhere. Luckily, I printed out a hard copy before that happened. But now I have to go through and check everything again...

I'll have to remember that tip for next time! I've only used emery paper on them as I didn't know how to remove the copper either. Thanks!
