We did this experiment at the end of last year. We made sure it was set up in a fume cupboard and left it venting for ages. We also then just threw out the used test tube (easier then cleaning). I think as long as you are careful and do it in a fume cupboard it should be fine. I loved seeing it done...

Thanks for that. Found the position at Blacktown Girls High School. Looked at the Northwest Christian College website and i don't meet their criteria for employment. So not even going to bother with them. Thanks though.

We brought a corrosive cupboard last year. It is a polyethylene cupboard, so it won't corrode. They only metal on it is the keys to look the cupboard. We love it, work really well.

6M sulphuric acid works just as well. Just have to let it sit in the water bath for a couple of minutes longer.
