Re: Preserved Animals

I have just brought a set of 27 species encased in acrylic in a kit for $295.00 from Haines. Trying to stay away from chemically preserved specimens especially with the junior grades. The teachers are happy with it.

Re: electrophoresis kits

We get all our stuff from Steve Garrett at Bio-Tek (biotek.com.au). Prompt service and can get extra chemicals or ready made kits at reasonable prices.

Re: 500ml beakers

I have found that the majority of the "600ml" beakers will hold 600ml but are only marked to 500ml. Hope this helps. Debbie

Re: Interferometer

My physics teacher recently requested one. Found a Michelson Interferometer at Serrata (product code 1014429) for around $275.00. Don't know what it does but hope this info helps you.

Re: Dissection Scissors

We used to get our scissors sharpened but they were around $4.00 each so now I just replace them every few years.

Bunsen Burners

Good morning. Does anyone know where I could get some nice bright "How to Light a Bunsen Burner" posters. Also, any ideas on how to label the gas turrets so at a glance you can see if they are in the ON or OFF position? Many Thanks Debbie

Re: Help needed urgently

We use lead shot (which the students sift out using a tea strainer) or iron filings (make sure you wrap the magnet in gladwrap or a small plastic bag first) and they put it in the mix and pull out the iron filings. Hope this helps. Debbie :D

Re: Carolina Electrophoresis Kits

Lorrae, I have attached a copy of an electrophoresus experiment we do using equipment already in the science labs. It is easy and cheap and works well for forensics "who did it" pracs when you mix different food colours together. If you already have the equipment, maybe you could use the r...

It might be worth you giving STELR a ring. We hadn't received our goodies so rang - they had "forgotton" about us!! :cry2: The teachers played with it this week - looks like it could be fun :clap3:
