Re: Anyone out there?

Hey Merilyn (and others)! Good to see you back on deck! When did you get back to work? I started back last week (18th Jan) but it has been pretty quiet here on ChemTalk.
I look forward to many good "on-line" chats throughout the year!
Welcome back to all.

Re: Anyone out there?

You seem to be "a voice crying in the wilderness" linotas!

Sorry. I am not familiar the red BB. If they are red, then they MUST be better! :-)

I hope you find them

regards

Ian :)

Re: Chemffx Labels

H Codes? Now you have me worried! I have been happily printing out mini GHS labels for my dropper bottles ever since the ASET inservice course (just for the new bottles, which was a LOT as we did a precipitation Prac Test a couple of weeks ago. I use a Mac, and have a stack of codes down the right h...

Re: chem gold 3 program

.....and I was rather hoping that you would have had that sorted out, Merilyn, so that you could explain it to ME! Having managed to get a whole heap of chemicals INTO the manifest, I got totally bamboosled when it came to entering quantities and printing reports! When you get it figured, please dro...

Hey Smee, Is Col McClure still at Cambala? He was a Camden boy and taught Science here for many years before venturing into the "Big Bad City". If you know him, pass on my regards to him please.

Cheers

Re: chem gold 3 program

Hi all, Is anybody having problems with ChemFFX this morning? I cannot print labels! MSDS's are OK, but when I attempt to print labels, I get a notice that tells me that "ERROR: This edition (2011/2) has expired. Please install a newer edition of ChemWatch, or contact ChemWatch on (+61 3) 9572 ...

Re: Fixed Resistors.

They are wire coil resistors, and they generate heat, like a little heating coil (like a jug element!) The water is to absorb the heat so that the plastic bottle does not melt. There is no problem in filling the container completely with water, just as long as the bit of paper that has the resistanc...

Yeah Linotas, I am 6' 2" and built like a "brick dunny", so that gives me an advantage, but the job is still best done on a HOT day!!

Re: Safety Shower testing

I just hold a bucket above my head to catch the shower water. The eye bath is more of a problem as it has a drain pipe that just empties out onto the floor. No way of avoiding a mess there!

Re: PD days during holidays

Nicky, Linatos is right in that they can not force you to turn up if they are not paying you for it, but I think the catch is that you are working for a private school. They seem to have an unwritten expectation that all staff will willingly go above and beyond the call of duty and never expect anyt...

Re: GHS Labels colour

I seem to remember the lady at the PD day saying that legally they could be in b&w, but she also suggested that you keep this fact a secret so that you can use GHS for an excuse to ask for a colour printer!!!! (They do look MUCH nicer in COLOUR!!)

Re: Observing Energy Changes - Yr. 8

I would not even bother with the iced junction. Just use TWO dissimilar metal wires with ONE junction Wrap the copper and Iron (or NiCr) wire together and heat the junction in a strong bunsen flame. I have just done it this way and got about 20 micro (u) amps without even cleaning the ends of the wi...

Re: What electrical wire do you use

Kimmy, If you have a piece of suitable wire from an existing alligator lead, just take it down to Jaycar, or a hardware store or an electrical wholesaler, and ask for some the same. If they don't have some in stock they would probably be happy to order it in specially for you if they know that you a...

Re: Labbies Conference St Mary's 2011

I was at the conference last year and that is what I thought it was supposed to be, but would Google Translate lie about such a thing?

Mind you, it does make a difference whether you put the comma in or not!!

Try it!

cheers

Re: Labbies Conference St Mary's 2011

Noona, I think I might have a little problem with the conference! I got the flier the other day, and noticed the little "Coat of Arms/Emblem" thingy with the latin quote. Not being a student of latin, I typed "Vos volo quis, ut?" into GOOGLE TRANSLATE". According to GOOGLE T...

Sorry DIME, Rosalie is correct! It is the KI that kills unborn babies. MnO2 just causes cancer in their mothers!

Re: ALERT Manganese Dioxide

To add to the confusion...... The MnO2 in Chemwatch refers to the product from Tennant Trading PtyLtd in Neutral Bay. Its CAS No is 1313-13-9, and it is Cancer causing. The MnO2 on MY shelf is from Chem Supply in Port Adelaide. It has the exact same CAS No.(1313-13-9) (therefore it is the EXACT SAME...

Re: SAS SMARTtrain chemical application training

I think that this might be the course that we sent our Farm Assistant to. Tried to get the Grounds Staff interested but they reasoned that if they knew how to apply pesticides, someone might expect them to do it! Still, it could be a nice change to be sitting on the tractor for a day instead of havi...
