Bromothymol blue

Hi everyone, Two of our bottles of bromothymol blue have turned an orange colour. It still works but we need some for a prac. test and I don't want them being confused by the colour. Any suggestions for getting it to turn blue again. They have only just been opened so shouldn't be off. I think we ma...

Re: having a very bad day.

Dear Sue, Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. We would certainly miss your input if you were to go to the office. We are having problems here as well. We are finally having some new classrooms built but while the building work is going on the only access to 2 blocks is via the stairs. Where I...

Re: Lab stools

Great idea Richard,
No stools or students in the lab. if we can just get rid of the teachers we'll be right.
Our stools certainly don't have back support. DET schools have a central place you get essential furniture from- don't know about Independent schools.
Good luck Ellice.

Re: Lipstick recipe

Dear Sue,
Thanks so much for the recipes. As I work in an all girls school things like that are very popular. It was really nice of you to take the time to send out the millions of copies to every one.

Re: The Universal Mystery

Hi Robyn, We have had this problem too and I have always blamed the students for contaminating it then we got a bottle that hadn't been used that had turned red. When I spoke to the supplier he said it should still work the same and it did but he couldn't explain the colour change. Weird hey! See if...

Re: Specium jars or what for crystal gardens?????

Hi Donna,
We get the kids to bring a small jar from home. Needs to be small so we don't use too much solution. Most bring one in as they don't get to do the experiment if they don't.

Re: What a way to start the term!

Sounds like smelly fridges are a part of the job! Luckily they are giving us a new fridge so I don't have to worry any more about getting rid of the smell. Lada that must have been so disgusting! At least we could move the fridge outside and get the smell away. Not being able to find what was making...

What a way to start the term!

Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a good holiday. I came back to an unpleasant surprise. During the holidays we had people in doing the compulsory electrical testing. When I arrived Monday morning I opened the door of one of our blocks to the overwhelming smell of something well and truly dead. They had...

Re: greenhouse

We are lucky to have a large garden around the school but we also have an environment group who look after plants in the shade house and glass house. We also have a garden for growing herbs and veggies. The senior science girls look after this and we sometimes get to take home the veggies and some a...

Re: Brian the Goat!!

Hey Richard, I hope you have a separate evacuation plan for Brian. When we had chickens we had to have an evacuation plan for them. This caused the principal great concern as ultimately she was responsible for getting those chickens to safety if there was a fire. She never comes up to science so I c...

Hope you have a great lunch.
The SASS staff here got all excited as in the weeks event sheet it said there was a SASS morning tea on Monday. We all turned up but it was an error and was just a meeting letting us know there might be some changes next term.
Oh well you can only live in hope!

Re: Curriculum Support

Hi everyone,
The curriculum support magazine is from thye NSW Dept. of Education and Training so might not apply to other states.
There is a web site
http://www.curriculumsupport.education.nsw.gov.au

Maybe you can find the article there.
