We have rubber-type aprons on hooks in every room - and no one uses them. I suggest that teachers use them - but they don't even suggest it to students. We have the safest spider population in Australia - as they live among the aprons.

we have aprons - I asked for them for students especially Senior students. They are white rubber/plastic coated ones, one class got the black cast off rubber ones from the technics people. They hang in each room, and are NEVER used. I have never washed them! can you wash plastic coated aprons? They ...

Rakhi - I have some idea how hard it is when you come to Australia with qualifications from overseas.. It is hard to obtain recognition. The CSIS - Chemical Safety in Schools has been updated. The DEC [State ] schools have access to it. Any other school has to pay to have access. NOn-government schools have to pay to gain access to the new CSIS - our Diocesan offices won't pay for it.. so we are still using the old one.

we use tooth picks soaked in distilled water. I have the chemicals in labelled vials and the students dip the wet toothpick into the powder then introduce into the flame. Makes less mess than a spray bottle. I have the vials in sets - by using takeaway food containers

YES I have asked Max at Serrata and he has been in touch with his suppler and they are assured that the samples they have NOW are asbestos free

I am in the middle of updating ALL our SDS for Science - I have done the rest of the school and am now going through the 450 files I have. Then to print up 7 copies of them so they are in each location required Then it will be updating the mini-MSDS..and laminating them so they can go out with pracs...
