Re: printers

I have a B/W laser printer in Staff room which is a reasonable walk but most of the time I'm needing Colour stuff and have to walk 4 flights of stairs and the other side of the school . I have to ring the Printroom , see if they are using the Colour printer and then make sure the Bypass tray is not ...

Re: Sodium Dichromate for cleaning glassware

I had dozens and dozens of them Rosalie. I'd attempt to clean them when I had a chance .A year later they were mostly still there . Sometimes you just gotta do what you know you really need to do . I binned them and bought new ones \:D/ Well actually , I kept a few of the better ones for N...

Merilyn1 wrote: 02 Feb 2023, 13:35 We use Tetley, Yorkshire (can buy in Woolies) and Lipton. All will work but the Tetley works the best.
We do this for Year 7 Taster Day - students get one of each to see which works the best.
I like that idea Merilyn

Tea Bag Prac.... need help

I've been asked for teabags to do the Tea bag prac. You remove the staple , empty the bag , form it into a tube and light the top .It sits there for a while and slowly lifts off the bench . Now last time I got tea bags but they had no staples and even though they carefully cut the top and bottom off...

Re: Microwave Demonstration Equipment

I'm guessing you are talking about metal plates, grills etc They can just go into scrap metal bin if you have one .
If you also have the Wax prisms and lenses, can't see any issue with putting in general waste.

As far as the transmitter/ receivers go , it's just e-waste .

Re: Senses Boxes

Thanks Rosalie.
Personally I like the idea of petri dishes and essential oils . It would take up less storage space .
I may look at switching some of mine to what you are using . The Camphor smell is really strong and tends to overpower the others ,especially if left uncovered for too long.

Re: Experiment gone wrong

My head teacher says that Primary Schools are not allowed to do experiments with anything that's not edible . So using Metho is a breach straight up .

Which could explain why so many year 7 kids are always asking if they can eat everything :yuck:.....to much molly coddling :whistling2:
