Re: Chemwatch Gold 11 for dept NSW ONLY

Hi everyone, I noticed this last Monday and a warning was posted on the screen saying it was about to expire in 7 days and to contact your administrator. I rang Chemwatch in Melbourne and spoke to a gentleman there who said that was correct and that DET schools were two versions behind in Chemgold I...

mercury samples

Hi, a question about Mercury. I need a small sample of mercury for Year 12 physics and would like to be able to buy it sealed in a clear glass container so they can observe the qualities of the metal but not actually touch it. Serrata have 500gms but only in an amber bottle. Not really suitable. Plu...

Hi Rosalie

Do you have McMillan Physics 1 from 2000 edition on or Heinemann Senior Science Preliminary. Any copies would be great we will pay postage.

Re: Spending $10,000

Hey smiley the idea did cross my mind. :D

Marine studies do need a little hands-on experience and I could just tag along. Though would prefer a week on Bedarra island but don't think $10,000 is enough. :-)

Spending $10,000

After my paper towel issue I have just found out that our faculty has been given $10,000 for new equipment following a science revue last year :clap3: :clap3: I was wondering what would be essential items to buy apart from usual general equipment considering this is a senior high school. It is quite...

Re: supplying own paper towel

Whoo slarti :clap3: Thanks for the positive vibe but I think this deputy is a lost cause!

Maybe we could have handdryers installed instead save on the paper and good for the environment :D

Re: supplying own paper towel

Thanks for all you comments. There are certainly differing views as to who is to supply what. I spoke to the Deputy Principal yesterday as he is in charge of the cleaners and building requirements etc. He worked out that it was less than 3 cents per student for science to supply paper towel and sinc...

supplying own paper towel

I have been looking at our purchases and we spend over $200 year in paper towel, hand wash etc for science labs out of our science budget.

I was wondering if any other school has to supply their own paper towel and handwash or does it come out of general funds?
:?

Re: Datalogger software

I must not be thinking clearly at the moment. The DER netbooks given to yr 9 last year can not have any new software installed on them unless the DET issue an update for every netbook in the state. So collecting Science data with a netbook supplied by the DET is not possible at present but it maybe ...

Re: Datalogger software

I don't know if this is helpful as we haven't got them yet but we are upgrading to the Vernier dataloggers. As of next year the students arrive at school with their netbooks. Our HOD is looking at Software and sensors that are compatible with them and found a range of sensors and interfaces that wil...

Superconductor kits

Hi all and welcome back, I am hoping someone can help me find a superconductor levitation kit for physics. This is for stage 6 Physics and uses liquid nitrogen. I found one in USA online but it would be easier if I could purchase it in Australia and I can't seem to find one . Has anyone used this in...

I agree with you Pattie and LizzieB great conference. I didn't get to try embedded specimens but heard how great it was and am inspired to have a go myself. I have a lovely diamond python that would make a terrific specimen but I think I will try something small first. My congrats to the committee :...

Haven't talked to you for ages. Where did you move to? Have you left the catholic system and moved over to the dark side?
Would love to know.

Re: Junket!!

Ah the ongoing saga with junket! The reason the junket tablets were taken off the shelves from talking to IGA staff 2 years ago was that the tablets were being used as a base for illegal drugs . Who would have thought. 8O Now why the powder is kept behind the counter I can't tell you but good to hea...
