Re: SAVE THE DATES: 27th & 28th November 2014

Hi Conference Ladies, Very excited about the conference in November. I enjoy it every year. One thing I am very stressed about and I know it was a big concern for a few labbies last year is "Risk Assessments". I work in the Public System and I am under the belief that as long as I follow t...

Re: New Science Lab?

I am also looking forward to a couple of new science labs - one day.

One problem that another local school found when they received their new labs - NO TEACHERS BENCH / Or DEMO BENCH.

That is something they were NOT happy about.

Do we have to keep exhaust fan on 24/7

Hi Everyone,

Is it required that we keep the exhaust fan in our Chemical Store Rooms on at all times?

Or do we just turn it on if we enter the room? And then off again as we leave.

What is "the Rule" that we should be following?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

We are looking to buy some new binocular microscopes. Any of you bought any lately that you can highly recommend? If so, what type, where from and most importantly, how much?

Thanks so much.

disposal of manganese dioxide

Hi everyone,

Just wondering how I dispose of manganese dioxide that has been mixed with hydrogen peroxide. I only have a very small amount and I couldnt find anything in the CSIS area on disposals.

Also, is Manganese Dioxide still for years 7 to 12? Or is it seniors only now?

Thanks heaps everyone.

Hi Hayley,

I think it is the teachers job to tell you exactly what it is and what "they" need. Thats why they are paid the big bucks!!

job description

Hi everyone,

I was told by a teacher today that it was in my Job Description that I had to show all "new" teachers how all of the science equipment works.

Dont get me wrong - there is no one more helpful to new teachers than myself, but is it part of our job description?????

Thanks.

Re: Xylem & phloem?

Hi there,

I am just wondering why the lab assistants are cutting thru the celery. Isnt that the teachers job? I just buy the celery and leave it in the tub with the scalpels for the teacher??? I would have thought the teacher and the kids do the cutting.

Re: chemical orders through smartbuy

After a lot of trying to figure it out myself, I have finally found the Serrata Catalogue in Smartbuy.

I telephoned smartbuy and spoke to a wonderful man called Michael, who helped me through it slowly, step by step.

The phone no for anyone interested is: 1300 338 289.

Good Luck.
