Re: schools can you order from any one
DoE school. I order from serrata, westlab etc all the time trying to find the best bargain. I order through the home ec assistant when I need anything from woolies. Got burnt over putting my hand in my pocket as we don't get reimbursed, so if the teachers need anything in a hurry, they either buy it...

Lucky you to have that space but would think that Lorikeet is on the right track. Add a roll-away bed that will fit under the bench for those days when you just need a time out.

Re: Aprons or Lab coats
We use aprons and are washed after every dissection prac and then again at the end of the year...if I get the time. There is a stash of them in every lab...about 30 and I hang them over the back of the chair to dry and then fold them. Actually not bad therapy, if you want or need that sort of thing.

Re: Ordering for Practical Lessons
Hi Nichole, We use riskassess. It's an electronic system that the teachers use to generate orders and i print off in the prep room. It records how much is used and when. It costs but is worth it as it registors time and date of lodging (stops teachers saying that they had ordered equipment earlier e...

Re: liquid nitrogen illawarra purchase
Hi, I'm in the penrith area (I know ,no where near illawarra either) and we got our liquid nitrogen from Ace Cryogenics. They were brilliant, easy delivery and pick up of dewar. We had to hire dewar $95 and 20 litres for $65. That lasted a full week so everyone that needed to do experiments were hap...

I am in the process of getting rid of ANY mercury in my school. I was under the impression that it was not a necessary chemical/metal to have in the school.

Sodium phosphate
Hi all you fabulous labbies. I have just been asked if we can still use phosphates - sodium or potassium ? I was under the impression that they were banned but??? They are still part of the curriculum.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: How are you purchasing chemicals & Groceries
 DET school: I place an order with the accounts office but I generate the order for all chemicals and equipment and stationery through a supplier. As for any food items I place an order with home ec as I am told that there is no such thing as petty cash or the reimbursement for the school takes...

When I started 4 years ago, I was 50/50 science and library then went full time to the print room and now am full time in science. BUT at the discretion of the SAM, can be pulled out to fill in when we are down staff. I am happy to help out when needed but don't even dream of it ever being reciproca...

Re: URGENT request for help!
What a terrible situation ...I can't get my head around the teachers not ordering unless they have their own labs that are fully stocked with EVERYTHING they need. No! It just doesn't make any sense. I try to insist on 24 hours notice but fail miserably most days. The teachers certainly wouldn't hel...
