Re: Dynaflow Fume Cupboards

Thanks everyone I asked an electrician who was on site as part of the BER stuff and he called someone from the company who installed them and they figured out a way to reset it.
Thanks again

Re: Dynaflow Fume Cupboards

Thanks to both of you so far. Rita, I checked the emergency isolator and reset the button but to no avail. I watched what the student did and they pressed a combination of the buttons on the panel and then the alarm started sounding. I have even switched off the power at the switchboard and that did...

Dynaflow Fume Cupboards

Does anyone have any instructions for Dynaflow 1200SCH Fume cupboards as a student has done something to one of them here and somehow has isolated all the services and I cannot figure out how to reset the fume cupboard so it actually works.
Thanks in advance

Re: Gas Taps

What is gas?

Oh that is right it is the stuff that has not worked correctly since we moved back into brand new labs in November last year, the teachers absolutely love it when I say the gas is working because I tested and they come to use it and it does not work

Re: Removing Stains From Ceiling

Thanks all for your help. Not sure how long the teacher spent cleaning the floor and the ceiling but when I came in this morning all the stains were gone.

Removing Stains From Ceiling

Does anyone have an idea how to remove Potassium Permanganate stains (from Yesterday) from a painted ceiling and the vinyl floor in the new Prep. Room?
So I can tell the teacher who decided to do an experiment in here whilst I was moving equipment into other rooms how they can do it.

Re: Fun experiments for demonstrations

Put some liquid detergent into a container with some water. Connect a tube to the gas outlet, turn gas on, wet your hand and collect bubbles in your hand and then ignite the bubbles.

Re: New Prep Rooms

Well my prep. room and labs are all cleaned out, nothing has happened with them yet and the kids will be back in about 2 weeks. They reckon the science area could be out of action for at least 6 months of this year or maybe longer = no practical science which means I am in an Admin. type role for a ...

Lab Clear Out

I was just wondering what schools have done regarding science pracs. to allow people time to clear out prep. rooms/labs etc prior to renovation?

Re: Digital microscopes

Whatever you do don't let the teacher take the CD containing the software (because it will get "lost") like I did, because we have a Digital Microscope that no-one else barring myself can use and the I installed the software on my work desktop so its no use to any of the classes who want t...

Re: Searching Chemwatch

I have a question as well. Hope someone can explain what UN numbers are and why 2 totally different chemicals could have the same UN number. For example I am in the process of disposing of chemicals and I had to find out UN numbers for chemicals and this morning I discovered that Cobalt Oxide and Co...

Dust it for fingerprints or even better get a class that is doing forensic science to do that and then run an investigation from that.

Re: What to wear

If someone told me I had to wear a tie I would melt it over a bunsen burner and also burn a shirt a bit and then take it and dump it onto whoevers desk and say that I was fixing some bunsen burners and my tie caught alight

Re: Delivering gear to labs

I am fairly lucky in that we only have 2 science labs and the prep. room is in the middle of them with sliding doors into the labs. I either take them into the labs. or prepare a trolley if I know I am going to be out of the prep. room when the teacher wants the equipment and then they come and coll...

Re: Written down prep time

I say 1 working day is needed for notice (it takes away the Friday Avro notice for Monday Period 1 etc), unless it is something that requires me to order something in especially. Some give me a weeks notice which is good. I give the teachers a fair bit of notice if I will be away (on Union Business ...
