Re: Acidified potassium permanganate

Hi all
We just did a prac. which required acidified potassium permanganate. I made up .01M of KMnO4 and just added a couple of drops of conc. sulfuric acid.Teacher was happy with the result. So there you go!! Would you call it bucket science? If so, it worked a treat!!!

Re: how to remove waterglass marks from glass

Hi All Try a solution of oxalic acid.I always have a bottle made up ready. It can be used over and over again. It is great for rust or brown stains on glasswear(stains disappear right before your eyes!!) and I'm sure it will clean other things as well. For 0.5M use 2.7g in 500mls of distilled water....

Re: Junket!!

I see a few of you are using junket for the enzyme prac. We have just finished this prac. and we used liver(lamb's fry from the supermarket) for all three sections being: Temperature,PH and Substrate. This prac. is a bit messy but if you use large test tubes that can be overcome. However it took long...

Re: 6m Sodium Hydroxide

Good Heavens!!! 6M NaOH for Year 10 soap making!!!! This is way too caustic to make soap. The experiment would be fraught with danger.2M would be good enough.
