disposing of potassium nitrate solution

Could anyone tell me how they treat/deal with/dispose of waste potassium nitrate solution?
It is an oxidiser so really shouldn't be heated to recrystallise, and shouldn't be ground in case it sparks ?

Thanks

Re: GHS Labelling and frustrations with Chemwatch

I spent 45 minutes with them yesterday trying to work out how to get the label to print the entire chemical name and not half of it . As other people have said, you used to be able to to manipulate the areas, but not any more. At the end of it I was no closer to a solution. How hard can it be.

Re: lead iodide and lead Nitrate.

Well, I think they are doing stoichiometry. It's titled "precipitation and conservation of mass". They are weighing the beakers before and after and taking temperatures. O and it's 40 mL of each. 8O

lead iodide and lead Nitrate.

Hello, this is for the people using the new Oxford textbooks. We are a 7-10 school, and there is one prac where they want to combine sodium iodide and lead nitrate to produce lead iodide. They already do this in small volumes dropwise to observe precipitation on dropping sheets. for this they want t...

Natural gas bottles for science labs

Hi, for those of you not on town gas, can anyone tell me if we should have a cage around our gas bottles to prevent access by students? I sent an email to workcover but got directed to the relevant Australian standard, which I can't access.
Thanks.

I am also on step 5, but despite an applied science degree , TAFE qualifications, and 20 years industry experience, I was originally employed at step 2. I am also on 60 hours per fortnight, during school hours, although I am expected to do things that can't possibly be done IN school hours. You have...

Chemwatch, registers, etc

Hi people, I have a question for you all re chemwatch, chemical registers, etc. I am wondering if in your school you are responsible for updating registers and MSDS or if this responsibility of someone else? Does anyone else in your school have access to chemwatch, and if so, how much? Up until this...
