cloud chamber

We have an old Townson & Mercer cloud chamber that teacher would like to dust off and use for demo, problem is we no longer have instruction manual, would anybody out there have an instruction manual that they could photocopy and fax to me. Appreciate any offers, Thanks

The trick to filtering barium sulphate is to use a glass filter crucibe (sinter) No.4, this is specially designed to filter the ultra fine BaSO4. Any vacuum will do, but it is a much quicker job if you have access to an electric pump.

This might be a bit too late, but it may be of help to some of you out there. I have a Chemwatch M.S.D.S for sports PE signal caps, it took forever to finally be listed on Chemwatch. I will email it to anybody who requests it, unfortunately it's too big to send here.

The quickest way to make iodine solution is to grind iodine and potassium iodide together in a mortar and pestle together with a little water. You will find that the iodine will dissolve up really fast when it's with such a concentrated form of potassium iodide. Now all you do is decant carefully in...

Sorry, I should have said that FE(SCN) is a 50/50 mix of 0.1M Fe(NO3)3 + 0.1M KSCN (20ml of each) then made up to 1 litre with water.

Hello all,
I have a store of waste Fe(SCN) and am wondering if there is a way of treating it in-house or is chemical disposal companies the only alternative. Look forward to hearing any replies on this one!

photographic chemical waste
