Re: Help - Seeking advice/opinions
I suppose I shouldn't be shocked at such an abuse of a worker by a person in a position of power, but I am. Equally by the other stories, I would personally consult an employment solicitor, because they could help you with a strategy that allows you to feel that you are in a more equal position. Asi...

Re: sodium metal
This is the part that I love most about our job. Sodium is so much fun, and the nature of its unpredictability makes it even more interesting. Bigger chunks = bigger fun.

Limit of chemical
In a past life, I remember that we were limited to the amount of chemical that we could store.
Does anyone know of a document that tells you what the limit are for chemical storage? I have looked through CSIS online I can't find anything. Maybe I'm dreaming....

Re: Bench Tops
Surely the most logical solution would be to have stainless steel benches like in hospitality?
It seems they upgrade hospitality first then science, should have the same crew in, to install a similar setup.

Re: Medical Check Ups for Employees using chemicals!
Hello, I have tried to avoid the chemicals as much as possible during my pregnancy. I have been worried a lot. The baby doesnt like it when I turn on the fume cupboard, which I think is interesting. Not sure if its my stress levels that rise when I turn it on or what. I would like to have been aware...

Re: FUME CUPBOARDS
Hi Sue
I have a new fume cupboard which I am entirely grateful for, as I am pregnant. The previous lab assistant complained and complained until she got it. Result: she wasnt liked : but you have to respect her because my environment is that much safer. (how much not sure but a bit!)

Acidified potassium permanganate
Hi does anyone have a recipe for acidified potassium permanganate? I got a recipe off the WA lab technicians site but it seemed too strong, the recipe said you should still be able to see through the solution, I only wanted a small amount and reduced all the quantities and then added heaps of extra ...

Re: data logger purchase
We have recently purchased one vernier labquest. We already had two data harvest things. I am really impressed with the labquest so far. Just need to purchase more probes - so that will take time. I believe it is more user friendly as you can see your results before you head back to the lab or compu...

I have a polariser that the Physics people use, it is ancient and is a Bausch & Lomb variety. I have not seen any for sale in any catalogues. One of the lenses is cracked and I would like to replace it. Any hints ideas where I could source a replacement lens or purchase a new one if the first ta...

Hi!
Where are you sourcing your Sodium (Thodium) Thiosulphate from? Its not available fom Q stores.
It took 6 months to get an order from Silform for it and by then my senior had cancelled the order.
