saliva use

I have a request for a prac using saliva but was told it should not be used because of the risk of Hepatitis. Would this be a written directive, if so any idea where it would come from.

Hope you all enjoyed the St Mary's confrence as much as I did. Hats off to the fab team of organisers.

Thankyou for that Kim. I will have a play when the teachers are not here to "assist" me.

Have a nice rest of the day.

Demonstration of salt water layers

Some of the teachers recently saw a demo of different molarity salt water of different colours being layered. An egg was floating between two of the layers. They have not been successful in replicating it. Does anyone know how it is set up please. :?

A replacement for Elodia

As Elodia has now been classed as a noxious weed, I am unable to purchase it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a good replacement for Microscope lessons.

Alpha Particle Spark Counter

We have a very old model Alpha Particle Spark Counter, probably a 70's model. It has been here longer than any of us on staff and we can find no instructions on how to use it. It is encased in clear perspex, has a VOLTAGE-OFF switch on the top left hand side and the Detector head is on the front. It...

Bubble making

I have to make 8 litres of Bubble mix. Hopfully we will be able to trap a student in a bubble. I would like to know what the best ratio of detergent to glycerine is for this and how much water should be added.
