Re: Expanding Roll

Our Agriculture and Primary Industries faculties have their own budgets and are separate to the Science budget. The only time I have anything to do with Ag. is when they need to use a lab.for microscopes and slides and sometimes for dissections. Ag. is not associated with Science otherwise. As far as...

Re: Tubing for Bunsen Burners

Hi Gwen For safety reasons you need to use clear plastic tubing for the bunsens as the rubber tubing perishes and splits very easily.Students find it very easy to put pin holes in the tubing which is dangerous when the gas is on.The lab tech.I replaced had a very nasty experience when the gas escape...

Re: Dilute H2O2

Hi All H2O2 will convert back to H2O after a certain period of time. To test if the peroxide is still active try this: Pour a small amount of peroxide in a test tube, then put a very small amount of Manganese Dioxide powder in. If it fizzes up then it is still ok and can be used. Just be careful as ...

Re: Ammonium Nitrate

Perhaps you should make your Principal aware of this situation as I'm sure schools are given special consideration regarding this chemical. It is disadvantaging students who require this chemical, and others to perform lab experiments. Students are always under supervision in the labs whenever chemi...

At the Dubbo College/Senior Campus (Yrs.10,11,12) Science this year received $11,000 for Text books, Comsumables,Petty Cash and New Equipment. Text books take up most of the money though, and not much is spent on new equipment as it is very expensive. The College is just 6 years old and we received a...

Re: Pasteur experiment glass tubing

Hi All I bend all my glass tubing and have some weird and wonky 'S' bends, but they all serve the purpose they are suppose to.Doesn't worry the teachers, but the students often have a laugh about the shapes. The best way to learn how to bend tubing is to practice when you have some spare time (...

Hi there Donna
Just an hour ago I was asked if I had anything to clean super-glue off earth magnets.I wasn't certain what to use so I thought I would give Propanone(acetone) a go.It worked perfectly!!!! So you could try Propanone.

Good luck
