I was taken aback yesterday and I'm grateful for your help. I explained this to the teacher & my Head Teacher and the crystals were all returned to the prep room! Phew.
Thanks

Hello everyone, I'd like your help please. We have a new teacher and she wanted to make borax crystals with the whole class (horror!) She said she always did it at her last school! Re: Growing green crystals?
Thanks heaps for your help.
The Librarian wants to enter a crystal growing competition with other Librarians and was looking for something a little different. She doesn't want to use food colouring or dye. I have passed on safety information for Mohr's Salt crystals to her.
Thanks all.

Growing green crystals?
Hi,
Our librarian wants to grow some green crystals and I wondered if anyone has any ideas on what to use. Is copper carbonate a contender do you think, or too expensive?
TIA.

Paint Storage
Hi,
I am doing the Chemical Register and someone asked me if it is ok to store interior paint sample pots in a compactor on metal shelves. Other than checking the SDS storage, I'm not sure who to ask. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: SDS
Good luck Soozle . Only hint I can give you if you are using Chemwatch is make sure the "Vender" Button is selected otherwise you get the generic "Gold SDS's" Also search with the manufacture's name first . EG "Diggers Methylated spirit" will find exactly that whereas ...

Hi, I am about to undertake printing the SDS for the whole school. Do you have any advice regarding finding SDS as I have just spent hours hunting on Chemwatch - some were dated 2011 so out of date. I also searched online as there are things such as dishwashing liquid and handwash but I can't find t...

Re: SDS
I've printed out the full SDS for all of the chemicals we have, whether they have signal words or not. Just being sure to be sure.... I've also saved a copy of the PDF into a folder on the staff drive for ease of access for all staff. By searching online I've located an SDS for everything we have h...

Plastic storage Sulfuric acid
Hi, I have found that rubber teats degrade on certain dropper bottles depending on the chemical. I was wondering where I can check whether it's ok to use plastic stuhl bottles instead to avoid this. I looked on CSIS but couldn't find any storage on individual chemicals. Is there anywhere you know of...

Re: Cauliflower Cloning
I have just watched the demo videos and it seems quite an easy prac for the students, it would take a little time to source everything and make the medium. Here are the links: How best to use this in the classroom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEbGnJnVuLI How to prepare the growth medium: http://w...

The chemicals required are Kinetin, Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, plain Agar and Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (Milton sterilising tablet). As they are not included in CSIS they have no age classi...
