Empty chemical containers

Hi all,
This was answered back in 2007 but I thought I should check again.

Disposing of empty chemical containers- straight in the bin?
held on to for a hazardous waste pickup?
taken by me to disposal sites?

Apologies if this is covered in the handbook- I have left it at home today :(

I should have mentioned I am in SA.

So they do insist on physical copies here then. The fire/evac explanation makes sense.
