Can anyone suggest an inexpensive practical for making a DNA model that's different from the paper cut out ones? We have used the pipe cleaner one, and also the one using sweets,but this gets a little expensive.Your suggestions would be appreciated.

I found with the pink agar,the water has to be boiling for the agar to set.Secondly, you could try a new bottle of phenolpthalein if your agar decolourises.Sometimes, the colour can be restored by adding a little more NaOH to the top of the set agar. Hope this helps.
