Re: Setting up yet another prep room

Poor Sue, I applied for LSL in term 1 next year. Gave them whole term notice to get someone in. So I asked HOD yesterday, and they will get a uni student to help out. I have a few issues to work through over holidays (mainly money) and all being well I will not be back. That will teach them to under...

Re: alternatives to Chemwatch

Just doesn't make sense. All schools have to follow WH&S procedures so why do some schools pay huge bills.
Same problems with chemicals, same GHS labeling, so how can you access same information without the price tag!!

Yep, I am with fibreweb.
I have had mine go to solution, so only can be used for solutions with no specific molarity.

Just looked up ghs labeling and it SHOULD have red" DANGER" and corrosive diamond.
GHS should apply to all states.

I agree with Lyn. I will not store anything else in acid cabinet. I have flammable cabinet for organics.

Re: spirit burners

I store them as is in flammable cabinet. We have 5 different alcohols, and I have set of 2 burners for each alcohol. No need to change anything, only top up the burners.

Re: U-tubes for electrolysis

They are glass tubes shape of U with overflow on each arm or without. Must be wide enough to put a small graphite electrode in each open end. We use beaker with salt bridge at the moment but new teacher wants U tubes.

U-tubes for electrolysis

We need to buy u-tubes for electrolysis for yr 12 chem shipwrecks and corrosion and I have no idea where to look.
No supplier has a listing under u-tubes. Any idea what is its proper name?
Thanks,

Re: growing waterweeds for photosynthesis in prep room

I have been growing plants this year, but it is a hassle. I had to get plant food, set up proper aquarium with light and aeration. Tank would get very green needed cleaning etc and since we have 2 tanks with fish in it, I put all the plants there. Fish tend to eat them, so I still have to replace th...
