Re: Lab. Tech. status update

The times they are a changing apparently. Not too soon for those of us who are being treated like "fibreweb". This formula renewed my faith in the system. The Aus Science Teachers Association and Professor Mark someone (should remember his name) have looked into the situation and come up w...

Has anyone else had the same problem? Any suggestions about where to order them from next time. Perhaps its the same m...

Re: sass science conference

Thanks Noona I think I'll be OK getting there Thursday morning. We're driving from Newcastle so probably will go straight to the school I'm travelling with another lab attendant but she's staying elsewhere. I'm sure ther'll be cabs available if I'm really stuck. Thanks for hosting the event, I imagi...

sass science conference

Hi All
I'm wondering if anyone staying at Prospect Hotel/Motel on Thursday night - that is 25th Nov - might be kind enough to give me a lift from and to Greystanes (Thurs afternoon and Fri morning).
It's about 2km apparently. Suppose its walkable depending on weather. #-o

chemical disposal

Hi Kimmy and Cin

:-) Thanks so much for your suggestions. I have previously contacted the council but they're not prepared to take school chemicals these days, so I'll go with the contractor.
thanks again

Chemical Disposal

Hello everyone
I need some advice about finding a conractor - (Newcastle area) for ongoing disposal of chemical waste such as some old chemicals and photographic fixers and developers. :?
How are other state schools managing this issue currently? :?:

Aprons

Hi Dolphinscales
Serrata have a rubberised apron - (light flexible and Acid resistant apparently) for $16 with cotton tapes size 61x150cm
catalogue No 1014595.
Otherwise Livingsone have a selection as well - don't know that they are specifically acid resistant though.

Hi Robb I realise how the reaction goes but you spoke of purged Nitrogren which I assumed to mean that the Nitrogen itself was purged before it could be used to create the inert atmosphere so that the electolysis could proceed as required. What I understand you to be saying now is that the purging i...

Chee willickers Robb
thanks for that
It all seems a bit obvious now
but if purging is purifying, how do they do that to the Nitrogen, I wonder?
I'm guessing its something to do with temp change -maybe ?

Have a great day
