Re: Sharpening dissection scissors

Smiley.

You cut the rim of the glass like you are cutting a piece of paper.
You will be very surprised how sharp the sissors will be.
It works, I have been doing this for years.

Re: Sharpening dissection scissors

Get a glass jar or beaker and cut the rim of the jar or beaker with the sissors and they will become nice and sharp.

Water Stills

Our old IEC Water Still has died. I would like to know what type of water still people have? I see that 'Omega' have one called Water Still 4Lt/Hr non glass design. Also 'Serrata' have a Stainless Steel 4.5Lt/Hr. Does anyone have these and are they ok?

Look forward to your replies

Re: Chemffx Labels

Printing MSDS & labels is fine, but as for the other stuff it is a pain in the backside. I printed off User guide and still can't make heads or tails of it. (Wasted a lot of time - Not Happy!!!) Think I will stick to my spreadsheet.

Re: fume cupboards - Tamworth labbies

Gday Rosalie,

Kemproof Industries checks our fume cupboards. They have always come and checked it since we had it installed years ago. We have had another 2 put in with the lab upgrades and the bloke checked them as well. He checked them in March this year.

Re: air conditioners in school

Gday Nicky,
Nothing has changed, it is still bloody hot here at Narrabri. The old Air Con doesn't work well. The other day it was still 30+ here in the Prep rm with them going. We tried to get split systems when they did the upgrades but they wouldn't come to the party.

Cobalt chloride

Re the use of Cobalt chloride.
Why is Cobalt chloride only a Green labelled chemical ? When you read the Health info it says 'May cause Cancer by inhalation'. I'm not keen to use it. - Cindy
