Re: Spectrum discharge tubes

We're having a big clean up of equipment due to losing our store room. The Crooke's Tube Cross Vacuum set we have is very old and does not work.
Does anyone know how we can dispose of it?

Re: End User Declaration

I'm in a DET school. I'll talk to my HT, but he's just 'acting' at the moment.
On WESTLAB's EUD, it states that the End User is "the person who will use the product", so I guess that ultimately the Head Teacher is responsible.

End User Declaration

Has anyone used one of these?
I've just started ordering some chemicals, including Mg ribbon, and am being asked to fill one in and send ID. I don't like the idea of sending a copy of my licence. How secure is our information?

Re: LPG limits

We always stocktake the whole school and count anything 'chemical'. So now it feels as if we don't need to stocktake the whole school at all. Surely everything used in Art is a 'manufactured product'? And what about the fuels and insect sprays etc that the GA uses? Have we making this way to hard fo...

Does that mean we don't need to worry about the 100 spray paint cans in Visual Arts?

Re: Sourcing zinc strips

WESTLAB sells: Zinc Sheet Strip (Code: ZT006-40G) 0.1mm thick at $26/1.
I'm not sure if it comes as strips or sheet, but you can use tin snips to cut into strips, if necessary.
I'm sure the other suppliers sell the sheets as well.

Re: School Uniforms

We're the same as fibreweb. Our senior chemistry and biology are offered the chance to buy their own, but no-one did this year. When the seniors leave school they usually leave their lab coats behind, so I had a stock building up. Then one of the teachers let the juniors use them for painting, and n...

I'm DoE and we only get 10 min morning tea and 30 min lunch. So do you work a 6.25 hour day and add your lunch break to that?

Re: PERFORMANCE AND DEVELOPMENT PLANS

My SAM won't let me put in things like updating SDSs because it's just a part of my duties.
I have to 'learn something new' or 'develop an existing skill'. So I can use 'learning how to bend glass tubing' which involves visiting other schools. And I can use Chemwatch training.

CSIS says years 7-10 can use <1%.
0.1M is about 2.6%, so I guess that's no.

Re: Collection of Hazardous waste in NSW

Well I've been here 16 years, so I should have had 5 collections!
But the only time my chemical waste has been collected was when we paid for it. So that's happened twice. And last time it cost about $800.
