Re: What water distiller/deioniser should I buy?

Hi All, I have a DELTA water still, from LABGLASS... This is an expensive bit of gear but this is one that I requested that we buy and I never look back. Just google Delta from Labglass and go from there. You won't be disappointed but YES you do pay for what you get. This is top of the range. Cheers...

Re: Disposal of flammable chemical mixture

Hi All, ri is on the money, the Pot. Permanganate is used in incendries where they inject Glycerol into ping pong balls filled with the Pot. Permanganate and they simply drop them from helicopters. Re: Disposal of flammable chemical mixture

Hi All/Joy. The best option for this mixture is to discard this into sewage waste. This may sound drastic but for this mixture this will no doubt cause a fire.... The safest way to dispose of this mixture is with copious amounts of water. As I said this may be a bit drastic but the safest way for al...

Re: pH probes/testers

Hi all, Fran.... One more thing you can re-juevenate a DEAD pH PROBE by a procedure that I have listed many years ago on this forum. If you search for it you will find it, it saves a lot of grief and will have the non-responsive pH electrodes working in no time. Rinsing with distilled Water is the o...

Re: pH probes/testers

Hi Fran, The common hole to fall into is calibration of the pH probes and in my career I have done countless calibrations and even pH electrode re-juevinations. One question.... How well do you know the concentration of the pH 4.01 solution and what compound is it. (This matters quite a lot). The th...

Re: acidified potassium permanganate

Hi All,

It is better to make it fresh as oxidation with natural/artificial light will cause the Permanganate to be reduced to manganate (Brown) solution rendering the solution not fit for use.

Overnight storage can be performed by storing it in the fridge.

Re: St Mary's Conference 2009

Hi All, Noona I have to regretfully say that my Uni Exams fall during the times of the Conference. The whole dissapointing thing being is that there is no break for me over the last three years. I am glad to be a presenter (Space or Chem or Physics) but I just can;t commit until I know my Dates at U...
