Re: Repairs to Science equipment

Yes! But pension mob won't let me charge ,so would look at it, and see if it can be repaired.
If the coil is burnt out you would have to buy a new one. Either phone me or email me

Re: Electricity to heat experiment

Yes I always used the 22# wire and rolled it round a pencil, now the heating effect is P=I E Watts = Amps × Volts this is constant regardless of what size wire/length you use

Re: Electricity to heat experiment

So you have thick copper or brass rods through to the water and connect with screw lugs, to the resistance element.
The heating only occurs in the element, P=IE thats power in watts equals current in amps times voltage in volts

The lead seals in the radiation, then just make secure.

Re: transformers/powerpacks

Yes you are right the amount of work to separate the two boards makes them not worth it, if paying labor costs, the older type were easy to repair, and better quality components.
Such is life.

It was used to copy plans on transparent paper exposed to light then lightly spray with ammonia solution to set image but with modern plotters I think it would be obselet

Re: transformers/powerpacks

Save them for me, I can often make one good from two crook especially the older type can all be fixed they are of basic construction the later type constructed on production line are too hard to apart to be worth it but a lot of goodies can be salvaged

Re: Repairs to Science equipment

Thanks all, my plan is to do all repairs in school unless I have to take it away to use special gear to fix it.
Get all your broken equipment on a trolley or bench and I will decide what can be fixed or binned then work on it in a prep room.
If you have time I will also show you how to repair

Repairs to Science equipment

G'Day all, last week I visited a school in central coast area, and spent the day repairing equipment and enjoyed myself no end. Re: Dewar Flask for liquid nitrogen

I used to deal with a mob called "all ag services" they supplied the flask.
You could opt to pay extra fee for delivery & Piuck-up, but I used to transport in my car.
Would never do that these days, all the rules prevent it
All the best to friends out there Ocker!
