Re: How do you Organize Your Rocks & Minerals
I have just organised our rocks into plastic semi clear lunch boxes (2 lunch boxes for $3 at the reject shop) I have bought them out of lunch boxes twice now, as I am also using them for all sorts of other bits and pieces - balloons, straws, safety labels etc etc I simple stick a label/rock number o...

Re: Testing the "freshness" of acidified Potassium Dichromate
I know this is an old thread, but how much dilute acid do I add to a 0.1M solution of potassium dichromate to acidify it. (100mls) Is a few drops of 1M sulfuric acid enough? I am making indicator paper for the sulfuric acid pracs in y12 Industrial chem. We didn't have success last year and I am tryi...

Re: The boring life of MSDS's....
Yeh I have hard copies as well
my excel sheet is just to make it easier to look for expired ones rather than wading through 4 folders to check each one
I just think its a huge waste of resources - printing, paper and time

The boring life of MSDS's....
I am in the middle of updating our MSDS's, you know that tedious job that just has to be done :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: And I was thinking about the poor old MSDS's getting printed off and placed in a folder never to see the light of day for 5 years and then getting pulled out and thrown in the recycling...

New National curriculum - year 11/12
Just been having a quick look at the national curriculum on the ACARA site.
It looks like there will be no more Senior Science and that of the 4 other courses only 4 topics per course instead of the 7 plus options we presently have in NSW
Interesting times!!!!!!

Re: Who does this?
With regards to the GA's positions I know there was talk of this last year about bringing in contractors but the union stepped in and as far as I knew it had been sorted. How do they honestly expect a school to run without a GA. Its hard enough keeping the maintainence of older schools (like mine) u...

Re: time table
I had this happen to me - I was sent to the library for a number of hours each week. I stipulated that I wouldn't go if I had pracs over that time etc, and basically told that I would have to make up the time during the week. Well I got my guys (my lovely science teachers) to periodically come or se...

Re: Training day offered by DET update
Thats the problem isn't it - even if we wanted to attend, funding the day is the problem and I much prefer to go th St Mary's every year so don't even request other training.
