Re: Yr 7 Crystallisation Prac
Hi Sharon, Thanks for the great crown idea. I gave it a try yesterday with a saturated solution of alum and mixed food colouring. Separation of colours was evident within 10 minutes as they travelled up the crown. This morning when I arrived I was greeted with beautiful "gold" crowns with ...

Re: Upgrading of 800 science laboratories (NSW public schools on
We have plastic sinks in the classrooms which are now damaged by students dropping hot tripods in them. Plastic DOES melt!!! My stainless steel sink in the prep room is much better except that it is designed for someone very short. I find I am leaning over to reach the bottom of it. I'm only 164cm, ...

I would be getting the teacher responsible to clean up the mess. Leaving that type of thing over the weekend is disgusting and totally disrespectful to you. This sort of thing really makes me angry. Grrrrrrrr

There is no doubt in the world that the way to make something valuable and needed is to throw it out the day before.

Re: yr metals conductivity
It is possible to buy the conductivity "cross thingy", which I call "wax wheels" with a metal circle support because as you said, rainbow sky, the wood ones do tend to get burnt. I have thrown out all the old wooden ones and replaced with metal ones, bought from Haines or Science...

Re: Lab tech VS library assistant
Even the ladies in the office get paid more than I do! The library assistants and those in the office had their positions reclassified last year to level 2. But the laboratory assistant (me!) was not allowed to be reclassified as our positions were looked at a few years ago and deemed not worthy. I ...

Re: u tube and jelly babies and potassium chloride
Thank you so much. I shall print off your instructions and give it to the teacher and say she can do it if she wants but I'm not hanging around! I suspect she will decide not to do it. Thank goodness I didnt just give her the gear and let the students do it themselves. I think I will be double check...

Now I dont have access to u tube at work (a banned site at this school) so I havent had a look at it but the teacher says y...

Re: Holidays
Thanks Rita,
I suspect that my daughters sixteenth will be similar to yours. Games, music and lots of chit chat. Only having a couple of the 18 invited sleeping over.
Looking forward to it and I must remember to warn the neighbours that there will be loud music.

science board games
Does anyone know of any good science board games? English and maths have quite a few to choose from and we would like to provide some for the science students. I have found a couple on the internet: Cogno deep worlds game Cogno Alien Adventure game Mars 2020 and Planet Quest Board game Has anyone se...
