Re: Uses for starch packing beads

If you dip the ends in water and hold them together they should stick to each other. Can be used to make creatures, bridges etc. Not real strong but a bit of fun.

Re: Solutions

Your solutions chart is fantastic and will help lots of us immensly. Whilst working thru it have noticed a small omission in Sodium Hydroxide. The 0.1M enrty doesn't specify an amount of water ,(ie 1 litre ) also same for first 2M entry. Could confuse the newer users.

Re: Phenolphthalein Agar

have just made ours and made the 1cm ones in the tray? that glue sticks come in. Has nice small round holes. The 2cm ones were made in an ice cube tray and the 3cm ones in a lunch box. I have made models of the sizes with plastic centicubes and use these to check size and depth. Not very scientific ...

Re: autoclaving agar plates (again)

hi Lisa and Kate, when I autoclave my used plates I don't use an oven bag. I put the still sealed plates in the autoclave baskets and re-sterilize them for 25 mins @ 121 degrees. Let them cool so that the agar goo sets again then empty and clean.Seems like we all di everything differently.
