Fume cupboards should be maintained and tested according to AS2243 Safety in Laboratories and WorkCover NSW. To ensure that there is adequate air flow it should be checked periodically. We have 2 fume cupboards and we have contracted Dynaflow to check once a year.

Thank you for the responses. :D We did use carbon rod but next time, my coordinator prefers platinum so I need to order one. I will try to get the wire from SSA.

Lugol's Iodine and iodine solution are almost similar-used to test for starch and for staining specimens for microscopic examination. however, this solution deteriorate with light and age, so fresh solutions are preferred or check your solutions if colour has not faded.Maximum shelf life is 1 yr.
